Staff Spotlight on Sara Motta
Sara is one of our Spanish speaking bilingual Parent Consultants here at Rowell Family Empowerment. She works with Spanish speaking parents of children 3 and up and joined RFENC in 2018.
RFENC: What brought you to Rowell Family Empowerment?
Sara Motta: I initially came to Rowell when I moved to Redding in August of 2018. I knew that I wanted to continue my career helping families with special needs and I love how Rowell empowers families and gives them the tools that they need to succeed.
RFENC: What, in your opinion, is the most valuable thing you could tell a new parent?
SM: That their child is beautiful and that they are in for a lifetime of pure laughter and love.
RFENC: What kind of activities do you enjoy?
SM: I enjoy being with my family when they are in town. I attend Bethel Church in Redding and enjoy it very much. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends since they are the closest thing I have as family here in Redding. Other things I enjoy in my spare time are going out to dinner, reading books, watching crime shows, and shopping.
RFENC: In your life who is touched by diverse ability?
SM: I have a cousin who has cerebral palsy. She has been a major impact in my life and is the reason why I knew I wanted to work within the same population.
RFENC: What’s your philosophy on life?
SM: I believe that love is the strongest weapon on earth. If we do everything out of love without striving or expecting anything in return we can change anything! Love conquers all!
RFENC: If you won $2 million what would you do with it?
SM: First I would pay off all my debt, then I would buy myself a house, buy each of my parents a house or car (whatever they chose), and then travel as much as possible.
RFENC: If a crow with only one wing is flying North in the winter at an average speed of 10 MPH, how long would it take to drive to Cuba?
SM: First of all, is the bird flying or driving or maybe because it has an injured wing it has to take a boat to Cuba. The real question is what is the starting point for the crow? If it is already in Cuba then all it needs is to walk (laughing). It’s an island. It might take it a very long time to get to its destination because it has very short legs but it will get there eventually (laughing).
